Publishing with Ingram Spark

Two months of wrestling with book covers and PDF files before I finally added my books for a wider distribution than available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

After releasing BEST FRIENDS, I put off two things: moving my books to Ingram Spark (for wider distribution) and starting a podcast. We saw where the latter went.

Then, several friends asked if I could make my books available via bookstore.org. Moving my books onto Ingram became a higher priority.

The Canadian Archives provides ISBNs to local publishers for free. It took me perhaps two days. I was stumped moving the print book from KDP to Ingram. I was told I needed to send a request through Ingram. Ingram responded that I needed my book on Ingram first. THEN, once on Ingram, they say it's there, so they have nothing to do, etc.

The ISBN on Amazon should change to the one on Ingram, while my book retains the reviews it has accumulated since going into print.

Best Friends by D.M. De Alwis

BEST FRIENDS features Maya, who is hesitant to attend school. In a classic playground move, her friend has told her she is not her BFF. The problem is, she doesn't know what a BFF is, but she is troubled by the rejection. Her mother points out that she has more than one friend with whom she can play.

We're all hooked by the negative. Kids (just like adults) feel rejection and cling to that feeling. The problem is that focusing on the rejection leads to missed opportunities staring you in the face.

This book is designed to be read aloud to preschoolers or by early readers. Read-along books on YouTube!

Which Feeling by D.M. De Alwis

WHICH FEELING features Theo, who has learned a new phrase at kindergarten. "You hurt my feelings." On their walk home, Theo's Amma tries to find out which of Theo's feelings she has hurt.

Children ask questions as they try to grasp new concepts. Often, parents lack the time or mental space to respond appropriately. This book serves as an icebreaker to help parents initiate those important conversations with their children.
