A List of past newsletters, no spam. The newsletter is sent at the end of the month with a recap of events and links to posts. My goal is to provide meaningful content to subscribers.

Beginning in January, I have made my short story, A Water Horse, available as a free reader magnet via Book Funnel (which is why I keep sharing Book Funnel links on my social media channels). As a result of this—you-share-mine-and-I'll-share-yours—effort between authors, my newsletter subscribers have grown significantly, with subscribers from every continent except Antarctica. As of mid-February, I have 191 subscribers.

End-of-January update: the perks of subscribing and what I’m up to for February.
Subscribers, I thank you...
Today is January 15th. This email announces the three winners for copies of the Pawn of Samsara Duology. All of my subscribers were entered to win. For those of you who didn’t win, there’s a freebie attached.

Goals for 2026 | Beginning with a Giveaway
I’ve started executing on my 2026 goals. Time is a limited commodity when you have a full house with three kids, pets, a partner, and the demands of a full course load. I have three projects I need to cut through this year.

The newsletter for The Erudite Bookworm (The Scribbles of D.M. De Alwis) was launched on the 4th of March, 2026 to a group of my 11 friends. By the end of the year, the number of subscribers had grown to 42 people.
A Lion’s Pride is out!
A rambling post. TLDR: the sequel is available for pre-order at major booksellers. Get your print copies from January 6th, 2025.

When it happens...
Because it will happen, what is unknown is “when”—goals for this winter break (until January 12th, 2026) and beyond. I also provide a recap of the year 2025.
My First Book Launch
Holding this event as an unknown author was my way of showing gratitude to the people who have helped me pass every milestone on this journey.

You Choose the Cover
Update for the month of October! A Lion’s Head is out in print. This month, I started my first ever Ad campaign on Bookbub. I used AI to figure out what my tropes were, and I wrote a blogpost on my experience of an unintended but serious micro-aggression as a POC.

A Change in the Air...
End of September updates. A Lion’s Pride is still undergoing revisions. The sequel to A Lion’s Head is due to be released (in all formats) the first week of January, 2026.

A Lion’s Head available in eBook, paperback, and hardcover
Another milestone! Inspired by the origin story of the Hindu God Narasimha, A Lion’s Head brings the mythology to life. The first in a Duology that touch on ancient myths while exploring reincarnation stories.

The end of an era... or is it the beginning?
A LION’S HEAD releases on September 9th as an eBook. The paperback and hardcover follow October 7th. This all happened so fast. Here’s a peak behind the scenes and what comes next.
Summertime Sizzle
July drew three new subscribers to the newsletter! I thank all of you members for the support; it means a great deal to me as I catapult forward on this journey. I have included a gift for you at the bottom of this email.

Happy Canada Day!
The end of June brought hot days and summer holidays. The world-at-large is hard to watch, so here’s a little escape.
The momentum from May is hard to sustain...
Time to slow down in time for the summer.

May Truths be Heard
Can you make a person rethink their stance? The hard part is keeping silent long enough for them to hear their words.

Setting Up in April
This week I bring you some links and a more personalized rundown of what I’ve been up to. From today, I’ll be sending this newsletter once a month.

001 | Audience & Animals? on Myths & Samsara
Happy April Fool’s Day! For the pagan holiday, I am dropping a new podcast. No, this is no joke. Read more below.

What do exposition and ‘sausage making’ have in common?
I’ve been firing on all cylinders in the last week. My daughter caught a debilitating stomach virus. I ended up self-medicating with YouTube videos and experimented with social media. I rubbed my daughter’s belly and sang, “belly ache, belly ache, go away, go away.” She’s better now.

What I learned: Comicon 2025
A Day of Books, Connections, and Unexpected Moments. Have you ever wondered what happens when an author steps into the vibrant world of Comicon?

Writing at the Turn of the 21st Century
Nostalgic comparison of writing a novel in the pre-mobile era. I finished writing THE TAKING in the year 2000. I write about why my first novel does not reflect the calibre of my writing today. The long read.
