Four Stars: Saoirse tells herself that she will not walk the same path as her sister's. When the day comes for her to Wed, she dances and prays in the Faerie Rings for something to change. Her call is answered and arrives as a massive stallion like creature over the water. This gives her an idea which changes her life. As this is a short story, we get a lot packed in at once to understand the full picture of what we are reading. After a few chapters everything starts coming together in this Fantasy world. Full of druids, spirits, stories and magic. This could easily be a full length novel that I would happily read. I grew feelings for Saorise and her situation, which is hard to do in novellas. Four Stars: I read this as an intro to D.M. De Alwis’s books and I am looking forward to diving into more. The reason for 4 stars is only because the start was very deep and descriptive, and then one chapter seemed rushed, and then back to the descriptive and full story. The rushed chapter felt like something was missing to me. It was a great start to a series, and I find myself interested in what comes next. Pretty good for a 20+ page book IMO. By Nicole S.

Why do characters appear in Ireland-Ériu in the short story A Water Horse, while The Pawn of Samsara novels are set in ancient India-Jambudiva? Rebirth doesn’t care about borders. If you have unfinished business, Samsara might drag you to the coast of Ériu to settle the score.
