A LION'S HEAD

👁️‍🗨️
A LION'S HEAD is Adult Fiction in the genres of historical fiction, fantasy, and South Asian mythology inspired retellings.

Comparative titles feature the immortal’s journey as in THE FOX WIFE by Yangsze Choo, gods in the real world as in AMERICAN GODS by Neil Gaiman, inspired by mythology as in THE SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller and THE GODDESS OF RIVER by Vaishnavi Patel.

An immortal embodying his/her best self through interactions with companions, as in DOCTOR WHO and an immortal witnessing the history of the world and evolution of society, as in Katherine Kerr's Deverry Series.
Cover Copy as of 30 July 2025
A HEAVEN TURNED INTO A HELL The Greater Gods have migrated humans to the immortal lands ruled by the tyrannical Asura King Hiranyakshipu.
PROTECTOR OF THE PEOPLE Wishing to return his people to their mortal home, the Water Buffalo God Isha binds himself in servitude to the Asura King. Meanwhile, Sinha—aided by three human companions—accepts the quest to defeat the King.
ONE IS FATED TO BECOME A DEMON, THE OTHER WILL BECOME A GOD.

Thanos of Prehistory

A Lion's Head takes place eons before the the present era at a time when the Asura, godly-beings, lived under the guardianship of the Greater Gods: Lords Ishwara, Sakka, and Surya.

Long-lived though they may be, Asura often earned boons from higher beings, notably knowledge, invulnerability, and invincibility. The Asura King Hiranyakshipu is one such Asura who earned a riddle of invincibility. As a result, he rules the Immortal Realm, Mortal Realm, and Nether Realm for more than 100 million years.

The Gods can not kill him.

A Tale of Two Gods

Insignificant to the hierarchy of the Gods—

  • Isha is the Water Buffalo God called into being by humans during the Dawn Time in the mortal realm.
  • Sinha is a recent construct of the Greater Gods.
There's one thing none of the Asura or Gods know: that all beings are subject to karma and rebirth.

A Story about Humans

In the era of A LION'S HEAD, humans are considered a subspecies—another type of animal. Humans live for a short time only to be reborn, yet it is they who give Isha and Sinha a sense of purpose.

ARC READERS

📖
An advance copy—also known as an ARC, ARE, reader's edition, or galley—is a free copy of a new book given out by a publisher before the book is widely available. ARCs are intended to generate reviews and publicity for the book in advance of its official publication date.

Sign up early to be an ARC reader.

If you comment below, "Yes, I would like to be an ARC reader," I'll be in touch with instructions to access a free E-copy of the novel.

Don't share your personal contact information in the comments.

When you sign up for the newsletter, I will have your email address. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at anytime.

Additional terms

My goal is an October 28th publication date with pre-orders and ARC copies available as early as September 28th. 🤞

I will not compensate ARC readers financially. I will provide readers with access to a free e-book of the novel—at least 3 weeks before the book's release—with the expectation that they leave reviews on at least one of these popular bookseller sites: Amazon, GoodReads, Barnes & Noble, The StoryGraph, and social media platforms.

As a courtesy, ARC readers are expected to send me a link to their review.
